Dartford are considering appealing against the red card handed out to Tom Wynter on Saturday.

The Darts defender received a straight red after a coming together with Maidenhead keeper Carl Pentney.

He was ordered off for a stamp but Dartford boss Tony Burman has seen video footage of the incident and thinks the decision was harsh.

Burman said: “The referee and linesman have said Tom has stamped on the player and I disagree with that.

“If you look at the highlights, he has made contact but I think the referee has got it wrong and it’s a yellow card. There has to be some intent there. To stamp on someone is a red card and I don’t think that Tom did that.”

Dartford have until Thursday to appeal. The Football Association could quash the suspension if they agree that Wynter’s actions didn’t warrant a red card. However If the suspension stands, Wynter will serve a three-game ban meaning he misses the Christmas double-header against Ebbsfleet.

The FA could, if they see an appeal as being frivolous, increase the suspension.

“Red is violent conduct and I don’t think that was violent conduct,” said Burman.

“The reaction from the Maidenhead players has not helped the cause. The referee was under a lot of pressure.”
