Greenwich Borough are in talks to sign Dutch legend Edgar Davids.
Davids, who won the Champions League, Uefa Cup and Serie A during his illustrious career at the top level, could be set to play for Borough in Southern Counties East last season.
Greenwich will play their home games at Dartford's Princes Park ground in 2014-15 after agreeing a two-year extension to their groundshare agreement in April.
A statement on the Greenwich website said: "Perry Skinner, the club's chairman, is in advanced talks with Edgar Davids, the former Dutch international.
"Davids is currently in Brazil commentating on the World Cup.
"The two parties are discussing a playing and ambassador role that would see Davids playing for Borough in the Southern Counties East League.
"This partnership could also see club involvement in promoting Edgar Davids' Street Soccer schools, an initiative that he has introduced in the Netherlands and that Edgar is looking to expand further."
Davids resigned as Barnet head coach in January after 15 months in charge of the Conference Premier club. He was eventually succeeded at The Hive by former Gills manager Martin Allen.
