Danny Harris is striving to add one more accolade to his Dartford CV after reaching 300 starts for the club.

Personal milestones like that underline Harris’ long-term commitment to the club but he knows team successes will define his time at Princes Park.

The utility man has won two promotions in eight years with the Darts and now has the chance to make that three in nine.

Tony Burman’s side are top of National League South with 10 games left and Harris is desperate to help them clinch the championship.

He said: “Every team wants to beat you when you’re top of the league.

“They’re probably looking at us thinking ‘they’re favourites to go up and they must have a massive budget’. We’ve got lovely facilities at Dartford so teams are probably coming to us and raising their game.

“We could have dealt with it better at times, we’ve slipped up when we shouldn’t have but the guys are handling the pressure OK. I don’t think guys are nervous.

“With the size of the club and the facilities we’ve got, we deserve to be in the top tier of non-league football but it’s just a difficult league to get out of, as Ebbsfleet found out.

“The play-offs are a lottery so we want to win the league and the next 10 games are important.

“If we can go on a great run here, I can see us winning the league but we have to treat every game as a cup final. We’ve got to be professional and handle the pressure.”

Harris has been a fixture at right-back this season, starting 27 of Dartford’s 32 league games so far.

The 31-year-old said: “I’m not sure when my last game will be so I’m just enjoying it at the moment and trying to get the team promoted. That would be the ideal situation.

“Tony’s brought in competition (at right-back). Nathan Collier can play there and we had Keaton Wood earlier in the season.

“The competition is healthy because it keeps you on your toes. You can never relax and say ‘that position’s mine’.

“As a team we haven’t been consistent enough. It’s been stop-start and we haven’t really got going.

“You can see that with the state of the table, where everything is bunched up.

“It’s not ideal but we’re still top so we’re doing something right. We just want to push on at this end of the season and get a little gap.”
