Marvin Herschel has made a great start to his latest loan spell and Dartford boss Alan Dowson hopes to see the winger make the most of his latest stint away from Princes Park.

He was signed by then-Gate boss Andy Drury just before Christmas but, following Drury’s Boxing Day departure and only two Isthmian Premier starts, in defeats to Cray Wanderers and Folkestone, his month-long loan with the Hartsdown Park outfit was cut short.

Herschel has now linked up with the Isthmian South Central side, scoring off the bench on Tuesday in a 1-0 league win against Ashford Town (Middlesex).

He had started at the weekend on his Westfield loan debut in a 1-1 draw at Southall.

Dowson wants to see the 19-year-old play first-team football regularly while with the Woking-based club.

“He needs to knuckle down and do that,” Dowson said.

“He went to Margate and that didn’t work out.

“The thing for any young kid is to get games. He will come into a club a couple of divisions down and try to nick a couple of goals as well.

“Hopefully, he can do that. I’m sure he can.”

The Darts manager recently signed three new players - defenders Tommy Block and Jernade Meade, as well as forward Jamar Loza.

The latter two came off the bench in the 3-0 loss at fellow play-off occupants Worthing last weekend, but Dowson didn’t rule out further additions in the near future.

“We are always looking,” he said, speaking on Tuesday.

“It’s transfer deadline day. Once that’s over, clubs usually move players on.

“We have a couple of irons in the fire. But the squad has gone from looking short to looking fine.”

Meade and Loza were both in the starting line-up as Dartford beat Met Police 2-0 in the Second Round of the London Senior Cup on Tuesday through goals from Keiran Murtagh and Pierre Fonkeu.
