Noor Husin is good enough to be back in the Football League, according to Dartford boss Steve King.

The Darts don’t want to lose the gifted midfielder, who is under contract at Princes Park, but he is a classy player for National League South and was head and shoulders above anyone else during their 3-0 win over Slough last Saturday.

“Noor Husin looks like he can play with a cigar - he’s that good,” said Dartford manager King.

“He’s a Football League player all day long. He’s miles better than a lot of Football League players I’ve seen. How he’s not back in the Football League is beyond me and if we can have a good season then, hopefully, he can get back in there.

“He’s on contract so it would have to take a fee to get him. I’ve worked with a lot of players that have gone onto Football League and played at various levels there and he can play there all day long.

“When we played Ipswich in pre-season he was the best player on the pitch for me. I’m not talking him up as I don’t want to lose him but the boy is outstanding and you can’t just ignore that. Anyone who was here watching the Slough game can’t ignore that performance.”

What made Husin’s display all the more remarkable was that it came at a time when the Taliban have seized power in his native Afghanistan.

King singled him out in the dressing room after the Slough win to heap praise on the 24-year-old Afghanistan international.

He scored a stunning goal during the victory, a move that started with keeper Dan Wilks’ goal kick and ended with Husin putting two defenders and the keeper on their backsides before firing home.

“I congratulated them all in the dressing room and said how outstanding they were but I heaped special praise on him, considering what he’s going through with family back in Afghanistan,” said King.

“To still come out like that, put a performance on and score probably one of the best goals ever seen at this stadium is a credit to him.

“We talked about it during the week and it’s tough for him. All we can do is show him support and I’m there for him as his manager anytime he wants to speak to me. He’s just got on with it, he’s a quiet lad and any support he needs from us then I’m there for him.”

On the sensational second goal against Slough, King added: “I don’t know how many passes were in the move but it started from our keeper. Noor was out on the touchline and then he came in and went past one, went past two and then put the goalkeeper on his backside.

“If that was in the Premier League we’re showing it time and time again. It was pure class. It was all about his ability and it’s a shame that the camera blew up and we haven’t got that on camera.”

Dartford visit Dulwich on Saturday in National League South before hosting Eastbourne on Bank Holiday Monday (kick-off 3pm).
