Dartford boss Tony Burman has reminded his players to focus on their own targets.

Victory over rivals Havant moved Darts two points clear at the top of National League South on Saturday.

But instead of worrying about teams around them, Burman wants his squad to meet their own targets of averaging two points a game.

With 49 points from 26 matches, Darts are currently behind Burman’s schedule but on a five-game unbeaten run in the league.

“That (title race) sorts itself out as the season goes on and the other games come into it,” said Burman.

“We’ve got to reach our targets. This month, we’re reaching our targets with the games that we’ve played. We need to get back on target for the whole season. I’m very much into averaging at least two points per game and we’re under that."

It was also a long-awaited clean sheet against Havant for Burman, with Dartford’s last shut-out coming in the win at Poole on December 2.

He said: “We haven’t had one for a while, so it’s nice to get one. They had chances but we had a little ‘over my dead body’ attitude and defended ever so well. We feel we should have more clean sheets than we’ve had and hopefully it’s something we can improve on.”

Dartford visit 18th-placed Chippenham on Saturday before hosting bottom-side Whitehawk at Princes Park the following weekend.

However, Burman has noted improvements from both clubs in recent weeks and is refusing to take anything for granted.

He said: “The next two months are tiring to say the least with the pitches and the way they are. I wanted to improve the squad and have that strength in depth.

“When something happens you don’t want to bring someone in, we’ve already got them here now and we should appreciate that’s what the club have allowed me to
do."
