Dartford boss Steve King says he has landed his number one transfer target after completing a deal for Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong.

The midfielder made a big impact on loan from Aldershot last season and King was determined to bring him back to Princes Park.

He’s among six new signings confirmed by the Dartford manager, who feels he has a built a side to challenge for promotion.

Other big-name arrivals include ex-Gillingham and Dover centre-half Connor Essam and another ex-Whites player in winger Ricky Modeste.

England C goalkeeper Craig King is also on board, along with full-back Jazzi Barnum-Bobb and striker Jack Barham, whose signing was announced last week.

King has every reason to be happy with his transfer business and is particularly pleased to sign Berkeley-Agyepong.

“Having Jacob back was a massive one for me because Jacob’s time here was outstanding,” King told Dartford’s website.

“He was my number one target throughout all of pre-season and even off-season so we’ve managed to get Jacob over the line.

“He’ll be a massive part of what we’re trying to achieve.”

King remains in the market for further signings and knows a big squad will be important if Darts, beaten in last season’s National League South play-off final, are to go one better.

He said: “We’re going to have about 50-odd games in 34 weeks so you’re probably looking at two or three games every week for three or four months, so the squad is going to be paramount.

“I’ve built a team that I feel will challenge.

"I think the experience is important. I’ve signed a lot of winners, who’ve been there, won things and been in play-offs, along with the youth, good ages, 22/23, good athleticism in the group as well and a lot of pace.

"That’s our platform, that’s our foundation and I’m very excited about the season coming.”
