Danny Harris is claiming the late Dartford winner that’s gone down as an own goal.

Darts breathed new life into their Vanarama Conference survival bid with a surprise win at Chester on Tuesday night.

They fell behind to an Oliver McBurnie header on 54 minutes but Nathan Green stabbed home Callum Driver’s cross straight from the restart.

Harry Crawford hit the bar on his return from injury as Darts threatened a winner which arrived in the 89th minute after Harris got his head to a corner.

It was given as a Kingsley James own goal but neither Harris nor his manager are having that.

Darts boss Tony Burman said: “Danny got the flick towards goal and it’s gone in off a defender but it’s Danny’s goal as far as I’m concerned.

“He’s claiming it and good luck to him. The forward deserves the credit.”

Darts are nine points adrift of safety after an impressive away performance.

Burman added: “It’s a tough place to go, especially when you go a goal down, so all credit to the players.

“It’s nice that something has gone for us and I thought we deserved the points.

“Our organisation was spot-on again and tactically we were sound.

“I don’t think anyone gave us much of a chance but our commitment was superb.

“Overall, you’ve got to say we handled a very good team really well."

Dartford: Ibrahim, Driver, McAuley, Green, Richards, Dallison, Bradbrook, Noble, Sweeney, Crawford (Daley 90), Harris. Subs not used: Hayes, Kessell, Collier, Burns.

Attendance: 1,603.
