Leading scorer Alfie Pavey has insisted Dartford are not under any pressure in this weekend’s title showdown.

Darts head to Bognor this Saturday knowing the National League South crown could yet be decided on goal difference.

Having recorded eight successive wins, Pavey believes it’s now Dartford’s title to throw away – regardless of how Havant get on in their final matches.

“I don’t think we’re under any pressure at all,” said Pavey, speaking before Havant's midweek 6-1 win over East Thurrock.

“If we were under pressure, it would have been going to Gloucester or East Thurrock on a Tuesday night – that’s pressure.

“We’ve come out on top of that, winning the three away games, so it’s ours to throw away.

“I feel like we’ve got the best players in the league, the best team in the league and we’ve proven we’ve got the highest scoring team - we’re in pole position.”

Pavey took his tally to 26 goals for the season last Saturday and was then crowned player-of-the-year following the game.

It’s an amazing turnaround for the 22-year-old, who started the campaign at Welling after his release by Millwall at the end of last season.

But there’s one accolade that he still wants to claim in order to complete a successful season.

“I feel like I’ve done what I wanted to do in terms of personal achievements and now there’s one more thing to do and that’s win this league,” stated Pavey.

“We’ve got one game to do it and by the looks of it, it could come down to who gets the most goals.

“My aim when I stepped down into this league was to get promoted.

“It’s getting closer and closer. Bognor might be relegated but it means nothing. Everyone will be out there to cause an upset. It’s down to us, we need to keep going and get some goals.”
