The calibre of manager interested in taking over at Dartford has impressed caretaker boss Tony Burman.

Darts are looking for a new boss after Jamie Coyle and Adam Flanagan resigned following the 3-2 derby defeat at Tonbridge earlier this month.

While the club have not formally advertised the post, news of the vacancy travels fast on the football grapevine.

“The process is taking place,” said Burman, who is also a director at the club.

“We’ve had a lot of applications. The last thing we want to do is rush into things.

“We’ve all agreed we want to get the right person in who we are all happy with.

“It’s not going to be done this week but there’s been phone calls already made.”

With the potential to get back into the top flight of non-league football, Dartford’s stability will also appeal to plenty of managers – those already with clubs as well as the high-profile names currently out of work.

However, the new manager will have to work within Dartford’s budget and be keen to bring players through from the club’s academy if they are up to standard.

There is also the added bonus of the Darts willing to convert to full-time training should they progress up the pyramid.

Burman added: “I’m impressed with who has applied for it, there’s lots of names and they are good managers.

“It’s a credit to the club that we can attract those people.

“It’s an excellent opportunity for someone to come in and manage it.”
