Dartford manager Tony Burman expects the National League South title to be decided on goal difference next weekend.

The Darts lead second-placed Havant by three points, with the Hawks playing their game in hand at home to East Thurrock on Wednesday night.

The margin of a potential Havant victory will determine the scenarios on the final day of the season when the two sides will both be gunning for goals.

“We’ve got to get three points (at Bognor),” said Burman. “It looks like it will go to goal difference and hopefully it swings in our way.

“I won’t be keeping in touch with it (on Wednesday), I can’t stand going on Twitter. I’ll probably go out somewhere and if my phone rings at half-nine then I’ll know something’s happened.

“It’s not something I will keep an eye on, what will be, will be. I think it’s well documented that East Thurrock protested about the Wednesday night game which is their right. I’m sure they will give a good account of themselves and have a go.”

Dartford kept their side of the bargain on Saturday with a 2-0 home win over Bath, a result which ended the visitors’ outside hopes of gaining a play-off spot.

“Mission accomplished with the three points, the main thing was not to lose the game,” said Burman.

“You can say maybe we should have scored more but they had some efforts that might have gone in.

“I’m delighted with the way the guys have continued to win and keep clean sheets. It makes it very interesting now.

“Over the last 10 games the work-rate has been tremendous, I can’t fault them for that, it’s been absolutely superb.”

It’s now eight wins in a row for Dartford – who visit already-relegated Bognor in their final game on Saturday.

“We’ve done what we had to do and we’ll wait and see what happens elsewhere,” added Burman.

“What’s happened has been brilliant. The desire that I questioned a while ago just for the one game when it wasn’t there (is back).

“They’ve recovered brilliantly and I can’t give them enough praise. Every time we’ve had a knock back, we’ve come back and shown our true character.”
