Adam Coombes scored twice as Welling got back to winning ways in National League South on Saturday.
The Wings had too much firepower in the second half after an opening 45 minutes to forget.
Visitors Oxford City levelled with 16 minutes left but Coombes ensured Mark Goldberg's men got their second victory of the campaign with a late brace.
Welling edge a drab first half although Anthony Cook's free-kick hit the defensive wall, Bradley Goldberg's shot deflected wide and Gavin McCallum's strike lacked power.
Coombes got his eye in early in the second half, his 30-yard free-kick forcing a tremendous save from keeper Craig King.
Welling went ahead on 62 minutes, skipper Rob Swaine drilling the ball into a crowded penalty area following a corner where it hit Connor Dymond and went in.
The goal woke Oxford and their equaliser eventually arrived when substitute Kyran Wiltshire forced the ball home at the near post.
But Welling were awarded a penalty within 60 seconds. Direct running by substitute Aaron Cosgrave was rewarded when he was tripped in the box and referee Philip Staynings - who turned down two first-half appeals by the Wings - finally pointed to the spot.
Coombes stepped up to fire home his first goal of the season at Park View Road into the bottom corner.
Welling wrapped the points up four minutes from time when Joe Anderson's through ball sent Coombes clean through and he was never going to miss when presented with a golden opportunity.
