Financial stability at Princes Park means Dartford will bounce back from relegation and return to Conference Premier sooner rather than later.

That’s the view of Darts chairman Dave Skinner, who last month gave Tony Burman his backing to continue as manager next season.

Mr Skinner said: "We are relatively stable. Results haven’t gone for us this year but there are more (important) things than results on the field, like the stability of the club.

"Lots of clubs are having problems paying their tax bill and that’s my real bugbear. Anybody who falls behind with their tax by more than one or two months should be docked points or relegated.

"We’re on a steady financial basis, so the club will go on. We will come back again. We’ll still be here in five or 10 years’ time, whereas some clubs may not be."

Dartford’s long-term aim is to operate with a full-time playing squad and the board are working on commercial projects to improve the cashflow to that end.

But assembling a squad good enough to get out of Conference South in 2014/15 is the immediate goal.

Mr Skinner said: "We lost so many players from last season. Tony had a difficult job trying to replace.

"We haven’t got the finances to go out and buy class players. We’ve got to do what Tony’s always done, which is pick players from a lower level or the same level and bring them on."
