The main feature on Saturday evening’s card will be the open race final of the Ladbrokes.com stayers hurdle over 540m.

Crayford only have two of the six finalists after last weekend’s semi-finals which were won by Soviet Military and Con Te Partiro, both trained by Ricky Holloway.

Soviet Military came home in 34.60sec, however Con Te Partiro will probably go to traps favourite after his impressive eight-and-three-quarter length win in 34.31.

The dog is the big name in hurdle circles at the moment having won eight of his last nine starts, registering wins at Sittingbourne and Wimbledon, as well as here.

Our dogs, Razldazl Butch and Bang Bang Bang, did well to qualify but this looks like a win for the favourite backers.

On the graded race front, there was a decent win from Senehal Song trained by Steve Gammon last Friday when the dog trapped out in second and took up the lead at halfway in A5 over 380m with 23.56.

To give you an idea of just how good this was, an A2-level race on the same card was won in a time of 23.84 when the dog led from trap to line. Senehal Song’s win time would indicate she can win in A4.

However, this will depend on her trapping out fast and she does have a tendency to miss her break when the traps open. She looks a good thing if she gets it right.

On a lighter note, I have started a fan club here for Code George for no other reason than I would like to see the dog win a race.

We can’t all be winners but I have every confidence that he can win if given sufficient time and the right distance.

The June 2013 pup has only had seven races and the best he has managed is fourth but he can improve.

When he learns to trap out faster, he can win a 540m race. So, having put my head on the block, it’s come on George – you can do it!
