All the latest from Crayford Greyhound Track

What a line-up for the final of this year’s Ladbrokes Golden Jacket, which will be run at Crayford stadium on Saturday morning’s card.

Column tip Hometown Honey is in the line-up and has drawn her favourite trap six so the signs are all positive that she can now go on and land the £17,500 prize.

You could have had odds of around 7-1 about Honey before the event started a fortnight ago but I suspect that she will now go off as a fairly short-priced favourite.

Having spoken to trainer Mark Wallis after her semi-final win, he was optimistic about her chances after another impressive run.

The dog won her semi-final race by four lengths in a time of 45.97 seconds over the 714m distance and she is the type that looks stronger the further she goes.

Her win was the fastest of the three semis with the other two races going to Lenson Pele (46.84) and Sidarian Jaguar (46.15), trained by Anthony Collett and Ricky Holloway respectively.

The final line-up is completed by the runners-up in each semi-final, those being Shaneless Becky, Midway Nick and Boltatwelldigger.

Shaneless Becky was unlucky in her semi-final, being blocked several times around the last two bends and while most dogs would not have had sufficient time to get up and qualify, she managed to do so and would have won had she not been hampered.

She is the only greyhound to have travelled over from Ireland for this year’s race and I believe she posseses the biggest threat to my selection.

Becky has not had the best of luck, in either her heats or semi-final races and I do not think that we have seen the best of her yet.

While the other four finalists have done well to reach the last six, the clock times say each must improve if one of them is to win.

With three “railers” and three “wide” seeded dogs, there is the possibility of crowding at the first bend.

In that respect, Hometown Honey has a plum draw in trap six and if she can get a smart exit and lead at the turn, she’ll be hard to catch.

The Ladbrokes Golden Jacket final is supported by other Open races with the finals of the Peter Bussey Memorial Trophy (540m), The Chief Ramsbottom Hurdle (540m) and The Ladbrokes Maxi Marathon (1,048m).
