Last week’s tips produced two winners in Lucozade Danni at 2-1 and Parkgariff Roman at 5-2.

My third selection, Farran Williams, was desperately unlucky when finishing second at a massive 12-1 in his A2 race which, on paper, looked a really tough assignment.

But he ran well and I am still confident that in the right company the dog is capable of winning at this level soon.

Debutant Blackrose Lexi could not have performed better on Saturday when winning by just under three lengths in a decent 23.85sec in her A7 race over 380m.

She looked like she had plenty in reserve, which should give her a strong chance of making it two from two next time.

I understand from one of the local form students that he was of the opinion the dog would find things fairly tough, given the opposition, but he was clearly impressed with the way that she ran.

Furthermore, the litter which she comes from got a mention on the live Racing Post sky channel – music to my ears as I have an interest in her litter sister, who is still to grade onto the race card.

I recommend you watch the progress of Skip Free. The dog, trained by Barry O’Sullivan, has only had nine full races here but, having thrown his chances away early on with a few missed breaks from the traps, now appears to be sorting out this weakness.

He can produce early pace and finished second over 380m a week ago, followed by a win last Thursday over 540m.

I think that we have yet to see the best of the dog. The bookmakers’ prices when he has run have been of a respectful nature and I can see him going all the way up to top grade in a short time.

Watch out also for continued improvement of both Dynamo and Poormans Model, who were the stadium’s dog and bitch-of-the-month winners for July.

The statistics show winners of this award have a habit of continuing their ways into the following month.
