Dartford manager Tony Burman says win over St Albans should seal National League South play-off spot

One more win should do it, says Dartford boss Tony Burman.

His team broke the 70-point barrier with a 4-0 win over Margate in National League South on Tuesday and are well clear of the rest of the teams battling to make the play-offs.

The Darts still have seven more games to play, but victory over St Albans on Saturday should see them home and dry.

Burman said: “If we can get three points in our next game then it takes us to an area where we are getting safer to a play-off place. We have a little to do still.

“One more win would take us to 74 points and it is going to be difficult for those teams in sixth or seventh to make that ground up, like it is difficult to make up ground for us over those teams above us.”

Beating St Albans on Saturday might not be as easy as the form book suggests. They beat the Darts 2-0 at Princes Park in November and were once chasing automatic promotion.

Burman said: “They have had a torrid run, for their standards. They beat us here when they were flying (in November) as well. We felt we should have beaten them but they had two decent goals from their point of view.

“We will be expecting a tough game like we always do against St Albans.”

Burman is hoping to add another keeper to the squad before Thursday’s transfer deadline and is targeting a Ryman League No.1 on a dual registration.

Brighton’s Billy Collings has come in on a 28-day loan to cover for Deren Ibrahim while he is on international duty with Gibraltar, but Burman knows he also needs back-up for an expected play-off campaign.

Andy Pugh will be assessed this week after coming off injured against Margate with a muscle strain.
