Top two should be promoted automatically says Dartford FC boss Tony Burman

Dartford boss Tony Burman believes justice will be served if the top two in National League South win promotion.

Darts face a final-day showdown, knowing even victory at Bognor might not be enough to win the title ahead of Havant.

Whichever team finishes second faces the lottery of the play-offs, and could potentially lose out on promotion to the side that ends up in seventh spot.

"In all fairness if I put my sensible hat on, the top two should go up,” said Burman,

"That’s what should be happening, not the play-offs because it makes it interesting.

"The league are not interested about the top two, they’re interested in making it more interesting and from their point of view it does.

"But at the end of the day you do 42 games and the two teams at the top should go up."

If they do end up in the play-offs, Dartford will be keen to repeat their success of 2012 when they beat Welling in the final at Princes Park.

"It’s a new ball game if that does happen," added Burman. "We’ve been fortunate enough to be in that position and we’ve come through it, hopefully we get through again (if that’s where we are).

"I’m delighted with what we’ve got to do, what will be will be, and it will all go onto the last game."
