Tony Burman has hailed the squad unity that has helped push his Dartford side into title contention.

The Darts are six points off the top in National League South and underlined their quality with a 4-0 drubbing of Wealdstone at the weekend. And it’s the team’s togetherness that has delighted Burman.

He said: “It is one of the most difficult things for a manager to do and to have.

"It is something you try to work on and they have reacted. I am delighted with the way the players have bonded.

“They are up for it and there is a lot of potential in the squad. It proves that when we have had injuries, the guys didn’t sulk about it, they got on with it and that’s one of the reasons we won it on Saturday.”

Dartford are at home to struggling Whitehawk on Saturday. Burman’s side have won nine of their last 10 games at Princes Park and are putting pressure on the top two in the table.

He said: “I am delighted with the way things are going.

“We have got a good group and people are believing in what they are being told.

“The potential in the squad is good and they are going to get better. It is nice they are believing in what you tell them. In the last two games we have had, some of the football has been excellent.”
