Welling's winless run continued as they were taught a masterclass by promotion-chasing Grimsby on Saturday.
The Wings held Grimsby in the first half but the visitors showed their quality after the break with Padraig Amond bagging a hat-trick.
It leaves the Wings deep in the relegation zone and must surely increase the pressure on Loui Fazakerley's position as manager ahead of Tuesday night's trip to Torquay.
The first half was played at a high tempo, possibly the quickest so far this season at Park View Road.
Welling gave as good as they got from a Grimsby team who had conceded just once in their last seven league games.
Chances were at a premium but any suggestion that Welling's spirit has been damaged by their recent poor were not evident on how they started the game.
Defensively Harry Osborne continued his good form from the abandoned game against Dover alongside Michael Chambers while Nortei Nortey proved an able deputy for Ben Jefford (ill).
Skipper Ricky Wellard twice had shots blocked but Grimsby, as expected, created more.
Welling keeper Michael McEntegart did well to thwart Omar Bogle and then Amond. It was the first of three chances in quick succession for Amond before half-time but he fluffed them all thanks to some fine defensive work by the hosts.
Grimsby showed their clinical touch after the break although the first goal was fortunate to say the least. A long clearance found Amond, whose header looped over McEntegart on 64 minutes.
Within six minutes the game was beyond the hosts when Amond fired in his second after Welling failed to clear another direct attack by Grimsby.
Amond showed all his class by expertly heading in the third to complete his hat-trick with 12 minutes left and Craig Disley drilled in a fourth four minutes later as Welling's defence crumbled.
Welling were well beaten on the pitch, and outnumbered off it too as Grimsby's away support of 807 dwarfed the home fans in an attendance of 1,337.
Welling: McEntegart, Osborne, Chambers, Porter, Kabba (Bakare 75mins), Wellard, Nortey, Corne, Harris, Williams, Vidal.
Attendance: 1,337.
