Welling boss Loui Fazakerley wants his team to take the national headlines in the FA Cup on Sunday.

The Wings host Carlisle United in the second round at Park View Road, hoping to reach the third round for only the second time in their history.

"It’s going to be a great occasion for everyone involved in the club and it’s a great opportunity for us to get to the magical third round," said Fazakerley.

"We are going to be up for it. We are going to give everything we’ve got and if we perform on the day, as we know they can, we can pull off an upset.

“The third round is obviously that big round when the Premier League teams come in so it’s good motivation for the lads going into the game.

“Of course, there’s always a giantkilling and the national press like a cup upset. There’s no reason why it can’t be us."

Assistant boss Matt McEntegart insisted there is no pressure on the Wings as they host a Carlisle side, who are the leading scorers in League 2.

"There’s no pressure on our lads at all," said McEntegart. “We love the big occasion and it’s a great chance for them to showcase to people what they’re all about, show people how far they’ve come this season and what good players they are, so I don’t think it’s going to bypass them one bit.

"I don’t think there's a danger of us giving too much respect, not at all. If anything I think that will work in our favour because I know they’ve scored a lot of goals but they’ve also conceded a lot so there’s definitely areas for us to be very dangerous.

"There’s areas for us to expose. It’s just down to the boys being able to carry out the game plan and having the courage and bravery to carry out the game plan.

“I don’t think there’s any pressure on us. Carlisle will be fully expecting to turn up and have a nice day at the office and a good FA Cup game and they should be, a club of their size. They should be turning up and doing that."
