Welling want to keep on-loan midfielder Harry Lee at the club until the end of the season.
Lee re-joined the Wings on loan from League 2 Leyton Orient on Tuesday and produced a man-of-the-match display in the 1-1 draw with former leaders Forest Green Rovers.
Assistant coach Matt McEntegart is keen to extend his second stay until the end of the current campaign.
Lee only returned to Orient last week and was an unused substitute in their FA Cup win over Staines.
McEntegart said: "We've pestered Ian Hendon at Leyton Orient and made phone calls about Harry but there was nothing more we could do.
"Then on Tuesday he rang out of the blue and said that he wanted to help us and that we could have him until January.
"We're hoping that we'll be able have him until the end of the season."
Lee increases the midfield options available to boss Loui Fazakerley and McEntegart added: "Everyone can see the partnership that Harry and Sam Corne have in midfield.
"It gives us more options, we've got Joey Taylor who can play in there, we've got Xavier and Ricky Wellard too so we've got plenty of different ways we can set up."
As for the draw against Forest Green, McEntegart felt Welling should have held on collect the win after Michael Bakare's second-half opener.
"We've very disappointed with a point in the end," he said.
"We've spoken about it, when you're in that position, it doesn't matter who you are playing against, we need to hold on and capitalise on it.
"It was a great goal we scored, it was good to see Harry Lee on the front foot to capitalise on a mistake and as soon as Michael pulled the trigger you could see it was going in."
