Guy Luzon hailed the performance of Frederic Bulot after his brace gave Charlton a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night, writes Josh Fordham.
Addicks boss Luzon said: “It was his best game for the last two years but not only in attack, the two goals were a bonus, he made magnificent work in defence doubling up with the right-back. He worked hard and deserved the success.
“He showed a lot of commitment to the team as he’s played every three days for the last two weeks. When you work hard you deserve to win and have success.”
Luzon watched his side win their fourth game out of the last five and was impressed with the battling display they put on.
He added: “We showed a lot of character. In football it’s important to show a lot of character because in the last two weeks we’ve played every three days and it’s not easy for the player and they are not fresh as two weeks ago.
“If our strikers were a little more fresh we would have killed the game after 70 or 75 minutes but in the end we did very well and they gave everything.
“When I arrived at the club the only target was to stay in the league and I am happy we are now out of the war at the bottom. Our target until the end of the season is to win points and to enjoy our football.”
One of the standout performers was 17-year-old Joe Gomez, who displayed a lot of maturity to begin the game at centre-half and be switched to right-back to nullify the threat of Michael Antonio.
Luzon said: “Gomez is a young player with a lot of potential and of course he has a lot to improve to get better and better. It’s good for a young player from our academy to play right-back or centre of defence. It will help the club in the future and it will help him."
