Dartford boss Tony Burman did his best to stay out of matters on his return to work.
Burman was back in the dugout for the first time in four games as Darts remained in contention for a National League South play-off place with 2-1 win at Kent rivals Maidstone.
The manager, taken unwell before the Easter Monday derby at Ebbsfleet, attended training on Thursday night.
But he left Saturday’s team-talk to assistant boss Paul Sawyer and largely took a back seat during the game as Elliot Bradbrook’s penalty and a lovely strike from Nathan Ferguson left Darts seventh, outside the top five on goal difference.
Sawyer said: “He's come along, he’s sat on the bench, he’s tried to keep out of the preparation a little bit and he’s stayed out of the changing room before the game.
“He was getting involved as the game went on - you’re bound to, aren’t you?
“Sitting there, it’s hard not to get involved, so it was good to have him back.
“It was good on Thursday night when Tony turned up for training.
“It gave the lads a lift and he’ll obviously be around going forward now.”
