Tony Burman has admitted that not much more can go wrong with Dartford’s season after their midweek embarrassment against FC Halifax.
The Shaymen finished with nine men at Princes Park, but still managed to win the game 2-1.
Eight defeats in their last nine league games have left Dartford seven points from safety in the Vanarama Conference and having played more games than most of the teams around them.
They travel to Dover on Saturday with increasing numbers of supporters calling for Burman’s head as the threat of relegation – for a second season running – keeps growing.
Burman said: "We need everybody’s cause, on and off the field, to (get out of trouble). Unfortunately, the place isn’t like that at the moment.
"I’ve got to take full responsibility because it’s my team that’s out there. We’ve got ourselves into a rut and there’s not much else that can go wrong."
Asked if he would continue as manager, Burman said: "That’s not my decision. It’s the club’s decision.
"I haven’t said too much to the players. There’s not a lot else that I can say at this moment. You get to a point where you’re winning 1-0 and losing 2-1 and it’s hurting us. We have to try to do something about it.
"We did our best to give the guys as much confidence as they could have. We’ve obviously been hit by injuries but that’s not an excuse. I had a squad at the start of the season and I’ve still got the squad now."
Elliot Bradbrook (knee) is a doubt for the trip to Crabble, although goalkeeper Jason Brown will be available. He’s been recovering from a back injury and has missed Dartford’s last two games for personal reasons.
