Dartford have found their old fighting spirit just in time for a double-header against two of the biggest clubs in non-league football.
Tony Burman’s side entertain Grimsby on Saturday before travelling to play Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night.
It’s a potentially daunting four days for the Darts but they’ve showed plenty of character lately and should go into the games full of belief. In the last month, they’ve fought back from losing positions five times to claim 11 points in the Vanarama Conference.
Burman said: "We’ve got a tough game again on Saturday – Grimsby at home – and then Bristol Rovers away on Tuesday. It’s relentless, but at the moment, the guys are starting to get things right. They’re starting to believe and the work rate is there.
"This is where we want to be, it’s why we wanted to stay in this league.
"We’ve had some great battles with Grimsby over the last couple of years and then to go to Bristol Rovers is going to be another great experience, like when we played Luton and Cambridge United last year.
"I’m in a more positive mood now than what I’ve been in for a long time, simply because the players are reacting. Slowly but surely, they’re getting into the routine.
"They know what’s wanted from them and they’re having a good go at making things right."
Andy Pugh returned from an Achilles injury by coming off the bench during the 2-2 draw at Welling on Tuesday and he should feature against Grimsby, although Lee Noble (ankle) is still struggling.
