Dartford manager Tony Burman labelled his team's defending as 'kamikaze' following their FA Cup exit at Salisbury.
Individual errors handed the hosts a 2-0 lead inside 17 minutes and the first-round tie finished 4-2 to City at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium.
Burman said: "It was kamikaze defending. I don't think it was anything to do with the back-four as a unit but individually, it was dreadful defending.
"You just can't defend the way we did. We spoke about it all week but I had too many players doing their own thing and not what they were asked to do.
"Once that happens, your game plan goes. It's disappointing because you work on things all week and you think you're doing the best thing."
Burman sprang a surprise by setting up his side in a 4-3-3 formation. Ryan Hayes was Dartford's central striker, with Danny Harris and Nathan Collier either side of him.
"We didn't want to come here and put everything behind the ball," he said.
"I didn't want to go 4-5-1, sit back and do nothing.
"We felt we could play with three guys up front and cause their back-three a problem, and I thought we started off brightly.
"But individually, defending-wise, we were poor and once that happens, your game plan goes."
