In-form midfielder Max Cornhill has admitted he questioned his own ability when he kept finding himself on the Dartford bench earlier this season.
Cornhill’s four goals in his last four games have helped the Darts scramble closer to safety in the Skrill Premier and showed exactly why manager Tony Burman signed him from Chelmsford last summer.
But only recently has Cornhill really found his form at Princes Park.
He said: "At the start of the season, I was in and out of the team with injury and then for a month, I found it hard to get in the team.
"It was hard, sitting on the bench and biding my time because I’m not used to that.
"You do doubt yourself. You’re questioning why you’ve been dropped, if someone’s better than you, what they’re doing and what you’re not doing.
"But the coaching staff gave me advice on what to do and I kept working hard in training. Everyone’s going to have their chance and once you get it, you’ve got to keep the shirt.
"You’ve got to be patient and thankfully Tony’s given me my chance and I’ve gone out there and proved it."
