Dartford recorded their first home win for exactly five months on Saturday.
They came from behind to beat fellow Conference strugglers Nuneaton at Princes Park, having not tasted victory in front of their home crowd since they beat Welling 2-1 on November 11.
Results elsewhere mean the Darts are not mathematically relegated yet but both they and Nuneaton are set to drop out of the division in the next few days.
However, this fightback did at least put a smile back on the faces of the Dartford supporters.
Elliot Bradbrook scored a controversially-awarded penalty to cancel out Andy Brown's opener for Boro and goals from substitute Tom Bradbrook and Harry Crawford effectively condemned Nuneaton to the drop.
Dartford's starting line-up bore two changes from their 1-0 defeat to Barnet on Easter Monday. Elliot Bradbrook was back after an ankle problem to captain the home side, for whom striker Andy Pugh also started. Danny Harris and Cambridge United loanee Jordan Chiedozie were both missing from the squad, while Nathan Collier started in central midfield and Lee Noble - who signed a new contract this week - moved to the left wing.
For the visitors, managed by former Ebbsfleet boss Liam Daish, Gareth Dean and Onome Sodje came in for Theo Streete and Robert Ogleby.
Nuneaton posed by far the greater threat in a tame first half.
Onome Sodje got the wrong side of Rory McAuley and dragged a shot wide before Andy Brown headed Lucas Dawson's dangerous free-kick straight at goalkeeper Deren Ibrahim.
Ibrahim then came to McAuley's rescue, standing tall to deny Adam Walker after his centre-half had let the ball run loose in the penalty area.
The visitors kept probing and Walker's shot from the edge of the box drifted wide.
Midway through the first half, Nuneaton got the goal their efforts deserved. Dartford were caught sleeping after Boro right-back Elliott Wheeler needed lengthy treatment and when the free-kick was slung across, they paid the price. Ibrahim got hands to Dawson's delivery but his punch didn't clear the box and Brown's header beat the covering defenders on the line.
Finally the Darts responded, Ryan Hayes crossing from the right and Noble's header deflecting behind.
But at the other end, it was almost 2-0 when Brown connected with Walker's low cross from the right. It was all too easy for Nuneaton to create chances when they pushed forward.
Left-back Jamie Richards unloaded with a hopeful shot from 40 yards and Elliot Bradbrook headed well over from Noble's left-wing free-kick as the Darts went into half-time a goal down.
They missed a great chance to equalise at the start of the second half. Pugh crossed from wide on the left but Harry Crawford, unmarked in the middle, directed his header wide of the target.
Noble went close with a central free-kick from 25 yards, bending the ball just past the post.
Then came Dartford's odd equaliser. Referee Rob Whitton spotted a Nuneaton infringement in the box which nobody else did but Elliot Bradbrook accepted the opportunity by finding the bottom corner from 12 yards.
The home crowd came to life and suddenly Nuneaton were on the back foot. Dartford could smell a second goal and Elliot Bradbrook headed over from Noble's corner before McAuley saw an effort scrambled off the line.
With Tom Bradbrook now on the pitch, Dartford were playing with three up front and gaps began to appear at the back.
Josh Rees stumbled through a couple of weak challenges and his shot was headed for the top corner until Ibrahim dived high to his left to claw the ball behind.
That save looked even more crucial when Dartford hit the front on 78 minutes. An almighty scramble saw Pugh and Elliot Bradbrook both denied by brilliant last-ditch blocks before Tom Bradbrook forced the ball over the line to make it 2-1.
Nathan Green's persistence on the byline was rewarded moments later when he won possession and set up Crawford for a tap-in which had the home faithful roaring even louder.
There was no way back for the visitors after that and Dartford's ong wait for a home win was finally over.
