Dartford conceded a late winner at home to Truro on Saturday.
They had plenty of possession and some good chance but couldn't stick one away and then faded badly as the game entered its closing stages.
Truro had already forced several saves from goalkeeper Deren Ibrahim when substitute Isaac Vassell pounced to sink the Darts three minutes from time.
Illness ruled out Danny Harris, so Kaka Dembele started on the left wing for the home side in their only change from Tuesday's 2-1 defeat away to Oxford City.
Jake Ash returned to captain Truro, having missed their 2-2 draw with Weston-super-Mare in midweek. He took the place of Pierce Mitchell in a City side which also featured former Dartford loanee Jamie Richards.
The visitors were in the wars early on. Connor Riley-Lowe needed his head bandaged after coming off worse in an aerial challenge and Cody Cooke then limped off injured.
Dartford's main threat came from the wide areas, with Dembele lively in the opening stages. He shot over after collecting Tom Bradbrook's pass and cutting in from the left.
Some excellent interpassing between Lee Noble, Elliot Bradbrook and Dembele then set up a shooting chance for Noble, who rifled the ball over from 20 yards.
Truro's first effort came from Matt Wright, whose low shot had Ibrahim scrambling as it bounced past the post.
Ryan Hayes then started to really influence the game down the Dartford right.
His dangerous free-kick from out wide forced a corner and Hayes' next cross was fractionally too heavy for Andy Pugh, whose header dropped wide at the back post.
Hayes was giving Aaron Dawson a torrid time, nutmegging the Truro winger twice in succession before drawing a foul. When he played a pass into Tom Bradbrook, the striker turned the ball across goal and Dembele had a shot charged down.
Then came a foul on Elliot Bradbrook just outside the box and Mark Onyemah fired the free-kick over after Hayes and Noble had set the ball for him.
All the pressure was coming from Dartford and Pugh headed a Dembele cross just wide.
But a tall Truro side reminded the hosts of the threat they posed from set-pieces when a corner from the right was only half-cleared and Craig Duff's goalbound shot was well-blocked.
Encouraged by that, the visitors might have gone into half-time in front.
Dawson wasted the best chance of the half, sending a free header wide, before substitute Ryan Brett had a low shot saved by Ibrahim after Noble had been dispossessed in midfield.
The second half was 15 minutes old by the time either side fashioned a chance and again Hayes was in the thick of the action.
His first cross was deflected behind for a corner which Hayes took, picking out Tom Bradbrook - who seemed surprised the ball had reached him. The ball found its way back out to Hayes on the right-hand side and his deep delivery to the back post was headed straight at Martin Rice by Andy Pugh.
It was all Dartford and Elliot Bradbrook set up Onyemah for a shot which hit the roof - but then back came Truro with a vengeance.
Callum McNaughton made a superb block to stop Wright making it 1-0 and the crossbar then came to Dartford's rescue when Wright let fly from distance. His shot beat Ibrahim, bounced down on the line and the Truro player following in completely fluffed his lines, heading across goal with the net gaping.
Ibrahim got down well to thwart Vassell when the substitute tried his luck from distance although Pugh had a close-range effort kept out by Rice at the other end.
But the visitors were being allowed to knock the ball around on the edge of Dartford's box far too easily.
Ibrahim saved from Dawson and Brett but his best stop of the afternoon went unrewarded as Truro struck in the 87th minute. Les Afful got in behind the Darts defence, crossed for Dawson and although Ibrahim did brilliantly to keep out his point-blank strike, Vassell stole in to score from the rebound.
