Tony Burman’s heart condition won’t stop him carrying on as Dartford manager next season.
Burman suffered a heart attack in March, was admitted to hospital and missed several games before returning to the dugout in the latter weeks of the campaign.
The 57-year-old is back in hospital for a check-up today (Thursday) but insists the stress of the job isn’t a factor in his health going forward.
Burman said: "I feel a lot better than I did a couple of weeks ago. I had a mild heart attack.
"These things happen. I’ve been told I’ve got a condition in that area which it seems like I was born with but it doesn’t need to be operated on, just controlled with medication.
"I’m hoping everything will go well on Thursday.
"I’ve spoken to Steve (Mosely) and Paul (Sawyer) and the backroom staff. We all want to continue to try to put an assault on the league next season. The stress has been part of my life forever. There’s a slight condition I’ve got which looks like it wasn’t to do with stress.
"Yes, it’s a warning but I’ve done no damage to the heart. You’ve got to manage it and I’m sure I’ll be able to do that.
"There’s rumours here, there and everywhere like at every football club but lots of them don’t quote facts.
"We’ve said all along that we’ve got a three-year plan to try to be challenging in National South.
"Hopefully, when we’re ready to go back up into the Premier, we’ll be a stronger club again."
