Tony Burman was critical of his Dartford players after their 2-1 home defeat to Nuneaton Town on Saturday.

The Darts conceded two early goals at Princes Park but Elliot Bradbrook scored to get them back in the game before half-time.

However, the home side never looked like salvaging a point after the interval and Burman pulled no punches in his post-match interview.

He said: "In the second half, we huffed and puffed but you've got to have that desire to make things happen.

"We might have played some pretty football and passed it about but some of them, in my opinion, didn't have the desire to make things happen in the second half.

"That's what's disappointed me.

"I don't say it too easily. We had a good chat in there.

"At 2-1, I think we're still in the game. In the second half we did OK - I can't say we deserved to win it - but you've got to cross the line and get hurt sometimes.

"Most of my teams do that but today, unfortunately, the boys didn't have the desire to get the result."

Burman was left to rue a nightmare start, which saw the in-form visitors strike twice in the first eight minutes.

Louis Moult headed in a James Armson free-kick and then scored direct from a free-kick of his own, curling the ball past Alan Julian from 25 yards.

Burman said: "When you go 2-0 down after 10 minutes, it gives you such a mountain to climb. We hadn't woken up, we hadn't kicked off in the first 10 minutes.

"It's two set pieces again which we've been punished for.

"The set-pieces are so important and I can't keep telling the same people about it."

Dartford visit Luton Town on Tuesday, kick-off 7.45pm.
