Ady Pennock says Dartford now have a luxury of dead-ball options.
The in-form Darts handed midfielder Louis Dunne his debut in last weekend’s 3-0 Isthmian Premier victory at relegation-threatened Hastings after the 26-year-old joined on a two-month loan deal from National League South Chelmsford.
While Dunne is useful over a set-piece, playmaker Samir Carruthers converted their first-half penalty - while boss Pennock also has other options at his disposal within that department.
“We have got some good options,” said Pennock.
“With Samir Carruthers, Sam Odaudu, Luther Williams, Louis Dunne and Tyler Christian-Law, we have got some good players that can put some good deliveries into the box.
“We have been working hard on them and, arguably, we should have scored from another set-piece on Saturday.
“Louis did really well. He has got a lovely left peg. His deliveries from set-pieces were quality.
“He tired a bit towards the end on Saturday - we took him off after 80 minutes - but he did well.”
After Carruthers put the Darts ahead on 15 minutes from a penalty, won by midfielder Olly Box, substitutes Jeremiah Pinder and Eddie Dsane struck late to round things off.
Pennock reflected: “It was a good win. We had a good week, getting seven points out of nine.
“Saturday was a strong performance from start to finish.
“They hit the crossbar just before we got our penalty, and had a header, but that was about it.
“Olly Box played really well. He got the penalty for us and set up the second goal.
“What I was really pleased about was the substitutes coming off the bench and how they performed.
“Overall, it was just a good team performance. Coming away with three points was the most important thing.”
The Darts’ latest league win came in front of a crowd of 1,438 at The Pilot Field.
“There were just under 1,500 there,” Pennock noted. “They had a fairly vocal crowd.
“But we took a few and our supporters have been excellent, home and away. They have a big pitch, it reminds me of Lewes - The Dripping Pan - a little bit.
“Saturday can only be a good experience for our young players because we’re a young squad.”
Sutton United’s Matt Kerbey, who had started the season in goal for Dartford, came up against them as he began his latest loan spell.
Pennock said: “He played well.
"He made some really important saves because it could have been a little bit more. It was nice to see him.
“We didn’t know he was going to play until we got the team sheet! Hopefully, he will do well for them because he’s a cracking lad.
“But for those 90 minutes, we just wanted to do our best against him.”
Dartford’s next league match will be at home on Saturday against struggling Bognor, who have parted company with boss Robbie Blake after their 7-1 home thumping to Chatham.
Pennock, whose outfit lost their first home league game 1-0 to a Potters Bar side, who days earlier had been thrashed 8-0 by Dover, said: “We have had it before with Potters Bar, haven’t we?
“Bognor’s manager has left, as well, so they’ll have a new man in charge - whether that’s someone on a temporary or permanent basis.
“It’s all about us. If we turn up and perform, we know we’re a difficult side to play against. That’s what we’re working towards.
“But we’re well aware that it’s a tough game because they'll be a wounded animal.”
Young Dartford winger Gabe Campbell has joined Ashford on a one-month loan, making his debut for Danny Kedwell’s side in last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at Merstham.
“I know Danny really well,” said Pennock. “I know he’ll look after Gabe.
“Gabe needs games so it’ll be a good experience for him.
“He came on during Saturday’s game. Unfortunately, they had a man sent off.
“But Gabe will do well for them with the experience that he has got around him.”
Striker Ade Yusuff has now returned to National League South Hornchurch after a dual-registration spell with the Darts.
“He did really well,” said Pennock. “He was very good, off the pitch, as well as on it.
“Ade didn’t play as many games as I would have liked him to play. Hornchurch have called him back and he started for them on Saturday.
“He will get back to where he has been as a player, I have no doubts about that.”
Dartford went out of the Velocity Cup, losing 3-0 at Sheppey, as their eight-match unbeaten streak in all competitions came to an end on Tuesday.
