Dartford are 90 minutes away from reaching the FA Cup second round for the first time in almost three decades.
Not since they took Bournemouth to a replay in 1984 have the Darts featured at that stage of the competition.
Now, Skrill Premier rivals Salisbury City stand in the way of Tony Burman’s side, who drew 1-1 with the Whites just over a month ago.
That game was at Princes Park but Saturday's cup tie, in Wiltshire, presents a different proposition.
Since losing at home on the opening day of the season, Salisbury are unbeaten in eight games at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium, dropping just two league points in the process.
But Burman said: "It’s a one-off day and that’s why it can be such a different game.
"You’re able to take the odd chance in the cup. These games are for the players and the supporters and it does take your mind off the league situation."
Salisbury, who – like Dartford – came up through the Conference South play-offs, have made a near-identical start in their first season back in non-league’s top flight.
A year ago, Dartford were sixth with 29 points. Salisbury are fifth with 30.
"Teams have come up and adapted well," Burman said. "Salisbury are a full-time outfit and that’s helped their cause."
Helping the Darts make that same transition from part-time football remains a burning ambition for Burman.
He said: "It will happen in the future. I do sometimes wish we were (full-time) but we’re not.
"It make it more difficult to compete. It’s a big ask, week in week out, to try to beat these full-time teams."
