Chris Powell's search to find a new club continues this week, two months after he left Charlton.
Popular left-back Powell played his final game at The Valley in the final day victory over Coventry - scoring just minutes after coming on as a substitute.
But many thought that was Powell's swansong from the professional game - a fact that means he is not coming up on many managers' radar.
"I spoke to Peter Taylor the other day and he said exactly that," said Powell.
"It was a great way to end my playing career at Charlton, and I've got so many great memories about that day.
"But that's not the end for me - I think I've still got another season left in me and I want to carry on playing.
"I've spoken to one or two clubs but a lot of people think I've retired. I've still got plenty of desire and want to contribute playing-wise."
The former England defender, who has also had spells at West Ham, Watford and Derby, has been heavily linked with another of his former clubs, Southend.
But there has been no contact so far and Powell is keeping his options open.
"I've been training hard and keeping myself in shape," said Powell. "I'm keen to give it another go and I know I can make a difference once I get that chance."
