Dartford Harriers took the top-two places at the Whitstable 10k on Monday, writes Alan Newman.
Andrew Pickett (34min29sec) and Daniel Pyne (36.05) headed Maidstone-based Loughborough student Niall Stewart (36.48) to the finish line outside the Waterfront Club on the sea front.
Mark Champion (M40 Istead and Ifield Harriers, 37.05) was first master in an excellent fourth overall. Also under 40 minutes were Istead’s Daniel Walsh (38.30) and Harriers’ Rueben Burford (M40, 39.17).
Duncan Moon (Maidstone Harriers, 41.02) was a top-20 finisher and the capacity field of 650 finishers included top over-70 master David Moorekite (Larkfield, 48.32).
Lynne Champion (W45 Istead and Ifield Harriers, 41.37) was 300m clear in the women’s race from Emily McKane (Invicta, 43.11) and Anoushka Johnson (W35 Bexley, 43.23).
Top-six places were claimed by W35 Maxine McInulty (Larkfield, 43.31) and Sevenoaks team members Pauline Dalton (W45, 44.07) and Suzy Claridge (W35, 44.08).
Rebel Runners (Medway) were led by W35 Bridie Fry (45.26) and Eloise Smith (46.33) and the higher age-group award winners were W55 Janice Moorekite (Larkfield, 50.48) and W65 Janet Pyne (Dartford Harriers, 1hr06min41sec).
Dartford Harriers men and Invicta East Kent women were the team winners.
