Charlton v Plymouth
Skipper Mark Hudson will be fit to resume in Charlton's home game against Plymouth on Saturday having benefited from the postponement of last Saturday’s game against Cardiff.
Hudson had missed the previous two games against Burnley and Bristol City with a hip injury and, though he trained on Friday and was named in the squad to face Cardiff, boss Phil Parkinson believes the additional time will aid the central defender’s full recovery.
“Mark was in the squad to play but the postponement gives him welcome extra time and quite honestly he needed a break,” said Parkinson.
With on-loan Graeme Murty also fit having recovered from a persistent shin injury, Parkinson has virtually a fully-fit squad available to face an Argyle side without a win in six league games.
The Cardiff match was postponed following match referee Andy D’Urso’s midday Friday pitch inspection. He explained: “There was a significant amount of water on the surface and with freezing temperatures forecast overnight on Friday, the pitch was expected to freeze.”
The match was the first called off off at The Valley in more than six years. The previous being a New Year’s Day Premier League game against West Ham in 2003.
