Manager Alan Dowson didn’t see the funny side of an officiating error which he felt cost Dartford in their home draw against Hampton & Richmond Borough on Tuesday.

Darts’ wait for a first National League South win this season goes on as they were held 1-1 on Tuesday. Striker Harvey Bradbury gave them the lead before Dean Inman equalised after the restart from a corner which wasn’t cleared.

But Dowson says a goal kick should have been awarded by referee Morgan Conn, that decision proving key.

On his team’s display, Dowson, who confirmed young defender Sam Odaudu had come off in the first half with a hamstring injury, said: “It was very good. I thought we played well.

“We should have won the game. Especially in the second half, we were a lot stronger.

“But again, we have to talk about the referees. It’s all about them now.

“Between him [Mr Conn] and the linesman, they have got to get that corner right, even though we have got to defend the first bit right and have missed a couple of sitters.

“But I thought the lads worked very hard. I have no complaints about how we worked, we just have got to finish chances.

“I thought the wide ones didn’t produce tonight, to be honest, and I thought the rest of the team did.

“We had a pass here and a pass there, where we could have got through. Luke Allen’s got to score but I just thought we lacked the end product. We need that so it’s a bit disappointing.

“But to get done by a goal like that - it’s just hard to take. You have got a referee on it, you have got a linesman on it, and they have just got to get that decision right.

“We laughed on the bench but it’s not funny really when it costs you three points. I don’t really see the funny side of it.

“That’s the way I am at the minute, disappointed, frustrated, but knowing the good signs have been there.”

Dartford’s problems were compounded late on when Brandon Barzey was sent off for a late challenge against his former club.

Dowson had no complaints about that call against his winger, saying: “It looked a red to me.”

Dartford will continue their search for their first three points of the campaign when they host Farnborough this Saturday.
