Welling manager Andy Ford has been dealt his first injury blow with news that keeper Jamie Turner could miss the start of the season.
Turner, who underwent a hernia operation at the end of the last campaign, is now experiencing more problems with his other groin.
Ford revealed that he is likely to play no part in pre-season - and could miss the season opener at Bath on August 9.
"It's not looking good," confirmed Ford, who was hoping to only have one keeper in his squad.
"Jamie had the operation in the summer and had been assured that it was not a double hernia but the other groin is still causing him problems.
"The worst thing is that Jamie is under contract so to bring another keeper in now eats into my budget. It means I'll have to alter my squad and run with 17 outfield players and two keepers."
Ford is hoping to have two keepers on show on Wednesday when Welling start their pre-season matches against Charlton's first team at Park View Road.
He added: "Hopefully, I've got a decent keeper coming in but it all depends if I can fit him into my budget."
Other players who could miss that friendly include Robin Trott (hamstring) and trialist Ryan Johnson (thigh).
Ford confirmed that defender Tony Sinclair, who is still to sign a new contract, is due to play against Charlton - his first game since his knee injury sustained at Dorchester in November, 2007.
Midfielder Callum Crawley has been released and Ford is working on the basis that skipper Richard Carpenter has also departed as he has yet to train with the Wings.
