Tresor Kandol has urged his Charlton team-mates to stay focused as the club slide towards relegation from the Coca-Cola Championship.
But Kandol, who became the first Charlton striker to score a goal from open play in 13 games following Saturday's brace in the 3-2 home defeat by Watford, admitted it was becoming increasingly difficult with the Addicks 12 points adrift at the foot of the table.
Kandol, who is on loan from Leeds, said: "We have to keep encouraging each other for 90 minutes. Staying focused is important but it is difficult when you look at the table and see where we are.
"I'm a local lad, who lives the other side of the Blackwall Tunnel in Stratford so it amazes me how far Charlton have fallen.
"Five years ago, Charlton were in the Premiership while Doncaster, who won here on Tuesday, were in the Conference. That's football and that's what happens."
He added: "Although I'm here on loan, it would hurt me if Charlton were relegated.
"But I keep asking myself, how the hell is this club, with the players we have here, sitting at the foot of the table?"
