Charlton have failed in an attempt to sign midfielder Jobi McAnuff on loan from Watford.

Manager Phil Parkinson disclosed after Saturday's 2-1 FA Cup, fourth round defeat at Sheffield United that he hoped to make a new signing in time for Tuesday's Coca-Cola Championship derby with Crystal Palace.

But Watford boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed: "Charlton were one of the clubs that asked about Jobi but he is happy where he is.

"Unless something suits both him and the club then he won't be going anywhere."

McAnuff, 27, started his career with Wimbledon before moving on to West Ham (£300,000), Cardiff City (£250,000)and Crystal Palace (£600,000).

He cost Watford £1,750,000 when he moved to Vicarage Road in May, 2007
