Millwall invite Dartford FC adacemy players Ben Francis and Dajon Golding to train with them

Two of Dartford's talented academy players have been training with Millwall.

Ben Francis and Dajon Golding, both 17, were invited to train with the League 1 club last week having both featured in Tony Burman's first-team squad this season.

Golding, a winger who can play on either flank, has made two substitute appearances in the Kent Senior Cup and scored his first senior goal in the 3-1 win over Welling.

Centre-forward Francis made his full debut in that game and has come off the bench twice in National League South - at home to Truro and Margate.

Burman said: "Millwall approached us and invited the two lads in for a week’s training.

"They looked after them and it was a good experience but I don’t know what else is going to happen at the moment.

"It’s nice acknowledgement that they’ve seen some of our players and want to have a closer look.

"We want the two lads to be with us. Millwall have taken a look at them over the last week and we’ll see what happens.

"They’re getting acknowledged on merit because they’re progressing nicely. They’re two players I hope will be with us next season in a more prominent way.

Both players have been getting regular games in the Southern Counties East League this season, Francis at Lordswood and Golding for their local rivals Rochester United.

Burman said: "We did that with Ebou Adams and Ronnie Vint as well, got them that experience. It helps them with things they hear on the field, it toughens them up a bit and helps them for when they come back.

"When you’ve been working with them over a few years so it gives you that little bit of trust and belief in the players. That’s why they’re getting a little bit of a chance now.

"It helps me, working with them on a daily basis."
