Charlton manager Alan Pardew is coming out of retirement to play in Sunday's charity match at Hayes Lane for Bromley youth team player Rob Hughes who was left fighting for his life after being attacked while on holiday in Crete.

After four operations he is on the road to recovery.

Pardew said: "I'm only too pleased to help but I'll have to tread carefully as the Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock is the referee."

Joining Pardew in a Legends X1 that takes on a Bromley side will be John Salako, another ex-Addick, plus former Palace assistant manager Kit Symons, now at Colchester, and former England cricketers Alec Stewart and Mark Butcher. The match kicks off at 2pm and entrance is by donation.
