Charlton boss Karl Robinson is close to bringing in two players on loan.
The Addicks manager agreed a deal for a forward ahead of their 3-1 League 1 win over Walsall on Saturday, while a deal remains likely for Crystal Palace winger Sullay Kaikai.
“We got the green light for one before kick-off,” said Robinson. “I’m not going to tell you who it is. I don’t want to jinx it.
"We worked very hard through the night, spoke to the player and the club.
“He is 6ft 1ins or 6ft 2ins, quick and left-footed, which gives us a bit more balance. He can play as a striker, as a nine. Hopefully we can get him to the training ground on Monday.”
Robinson, who also dismissed reports linking him with a move for Hibs striker Anthony Stokes, is still keen to complete the signing of Palace's Kaikai - who netted 12 league goals while on loan at Shrewsbury in 2015/16.
"We want to get it over the line," added Robinson. "He's a special talent.
"They've turned down a lot of bids (for permanent moves). I never thought it would be an opportunity.
"His goals for games ratio at this level is as good as most people we've had here."
On the win over Walsall, Robinson felt his team are coming good just at the right time as they made it three victories in a row.
With teams above them dropping points, he wants the Addicks to establish themselves firmly in the chasing pack behind the front two of Wigan and Blackburn.
"I'm proud of the players and the way they performed," he said.
"We've made nine points up on Bradford in three games which is an amazing overhaul of points.
"We've put ourselves in a good position to now not just look to nick points, but to drag them closer.
"You look at the likes of Blackburn and Wigan, they'd like to think they can kick on but there's no reason why that can't be the limit.
"That's what we've got to aspire to get to. This team is certainly capable of going on and winning a number of games.
"Our squad's getting stronger and that's a positive. We've got goals back in our team now and that was evident on Saturday."
