Welling boss Steve King admitted his side’s Boxing Day derby win over Dartford could have been even more emphatic.
The Wings led through Josh Hill’s first-half header but needed a late Danny Mills goal to wrap up the points.
“We totally dominated and should have got a lot more,” said King. “As brilliant as Millsy played, he should have had a hat-trick.
“We should have gone two or three-nil up earlier and we could have taken our foot off a little bit but they were always in the game.
“They hit the post (late on) and I felt it would have flattered them if they’d got something from the game.
“You have to defend properly with the way they play and from minute one I felt we bossed the game.”
John Paul Kissock produced an excellent performance in midfield, despite Dartford setting up with five across the middle of the park.
“He was outstanding, made the second goal with a run past three or four of them and crossed the ball in (before) Danny scored,” said King.
“We were solid in (the centre of midfield). That’s the beauty of some of the midfield players we’ve got, we’ve got a good core of players we need to get through this period.”

It was an excellent day for the Wings with a bumper crowd of nearly 2,000 watching on – King hopes the home fans will come back more often.
“Overall you couldn’t ask for more than that,” he said. “We had nearly 2,000 here which is a bonus and we can’t do anymore at home.
“We can’t do no more at home, we need to get the fans in supporting us and get them behind us.
Welling, who are now third in National League South, host Concord on Saturday before the return trip to Dartford on New Year’s Day.
“Concord are on a good run and are a good side,” added King. “We produced our best performance of the season over there so we know what’s going to come, it’s going to be a tough ask, but we’re in a good place.
“It’s going to be even tougher when we go to Dartford as they’ll want to put this game back over us.”
