Peter Sweeney could still have a future at Dartford after denying rumours he had signed for their Step 5 tenants Greenwich Borough.
The former Millwall and Stoke midfielder joined the Darts last August and made 36 league appearances during a campaign which ended in relegation from the Vanarama Conference.
Sweeney found the transition from professional to part-time difficult but laughed off the suggestion he’d be playing in the Southern Counties East League next season.
He said: "It’s not true. I’ve had a few phone calls asking me about it but don’t know where it’s come from.
"I’ve been away for a few weeks so I’ve not spoken with anyone – especially not (Darts boss) Tony Burman but I will phone him to see what his thoughts are for next season.
"If he offers me something I’ll definitely discuss it. We need to have a catch-up and he’s the first person I’ll be speaking to.
"There is definitely no truth in me signing for Greenwich Borough."
Sweeney has played in the Championship and FA Cup final but last season was arguably the biggest challenge of his 15-year football career.
He said: "It was a bit of a shock to the system, only training two nights a week.
"I knew it would be difficult because I know a lot of people in football who have done it themselves – professionals who have come into part-time football – and they told me the first year would be the most difficult.
"I wasn’t aware how hard it would be mentally and physically."
