Dartford manager Tony Burman is ready to axe the defenders who are letting him down so badly.
Tuesday’s 5-1 home defeat to Wrexham meant the Darts have now conceded 15 goals in their last four outings and 39 in 20 league games – the second-worst record in the Skrill Premier.
But it was the manner of the Wrexham defeat which made Burman so angry. Dartford’s defence surrendered as soon as they went behind and the manager isn’t prepared to tolerate any more of the same.
Burman said: "It was probably the worst defensive play I’ve ever seen from us.
"I feel I’ve been badly let down.
"I don’t normally get let down. It’s not often that it happens and it only happens once.
"I’ve got to do something. You’ve got to have a little bit of guts and determination and you’ve got to show a bit of fight."
Burman added: "I’m not going to go into individual names because I don’t think it’s fair to do that but defensively it was there to be seen. It was shocking.
"They’re experienced guys but experience – if you’ve got a lack of determination and fight – is irrelevant."
