Tony Burman felt striker Andy Pugh was "a cut above" on Saturday.
Pugh's ninth and 10th goals of the season earned Dartford a 2-0 win over St Albans City at Princes Park, lifting them to fifth in National League South.
The striker has scored seven times in his last six games and looks fit and sharp.
Burman said: "We’re fortunate at the moment that we’ve got someone in form who’s playing up front and he’s put two good strikes in and won us the game.
"Pughy’s doing well at the moment. Hopefully we can keep him fit. He’s feeling good and it wasn’t just the goals - his touch was very good when he got the balls down and knocked them out to certain players. He’s the one that shone through.
"We know he can play very well and he can score you goals. I think he was a cut above the rest today and not only the two goals he scored but his link-up play as well."
Pugh's goals settled a poor game in windy conditions on a sandy pitch.
Burman said: "If it was a day to win a game ugly, we did it. It wasn’t the purest of games and the wind and conditions didn’t help us on that.
"I was disappointed at half-time because we didn’t get out of third gear.
"They responded in the second half a little bit better, against the wind.
"I wasn’t completely pleased with the performance but I have to bite my tongue sometimes and just say we’ve won ugly because that’s certainly what it was.
"We got away with it a couple of times when we didn’t quite clear it when we should have done. If they’re clearing it, clear it. Get it forward, get it anywhere but not in our box.
"But they got in the way of things. It was a little bit ‘over my dead body’ which is great.
"Footballing-wise, it wasn’t the best on the eye.
"It needed a bit of quality out there in difficult conditions and we got that from Andy Pugh."
