Dartford captain Garry Cook described Saturday’s thrilling victory over Canterbury as the best game he’s ever played in.

Cook scored 89 as Dartford successfully chased 288 to win, scoring their final run from the penultimate ball of the match at Hesketh Park.

"It was unbelievable," Cook said. "At half-time we looked dead and buried but that was probably the best game I’ve been involved in.

"I’ve been playing first-team cricket for the best part of 20 years and I can’t remember us chasing a score like that – especially against a good side like Canterbury.

"You think you’re never going to get 300 against a team that’s just come down from the Premier Division, so to get up to that proves you can do anything on any given day.

"What happened the week before (when Dartford chased 211 to win at Hayes) gave us a bit more confidence – and we had luck on our side."
