Welling manager Andy Ford has completed a major transfer coup by signing young striker Charlie Sheringham.
The 20-year-old scored six goals in as many games for Cambridge City last season and will be a key component of Ford's squad next season.
Sheringham, son of former Manchester United and England forward Teddy, spent time on the books of Millwall, Tottenham, Ipswich and Crystal Palace but failed to make the grade in the professional game.
It was believed that Sheringham had agreed to sign a one-year deal with Cambridge but, following their demotion from Blue Square South, Ford has stepped in to sign Sheringham.
To complete a busy weekend in the transfer market, Ford has also agreed a deal with Folkestone's highly-rated defender Frankie Chappell.
Ford watched Chappell, who started his career with Gillingham, on a number of occasions at the end of last season and has managed to persuade the Plumstead-based centre-back to move to Park View Road.
However, Chappell will miss the first two games of the new campaign after he was sent-off on the final day of last season against Maidstone.
